1993:Inauguration of the Dominican Institute; foundation of the Department of Philosophy in affiliation with the University of Ibadan for the award of the B.A. degree in Philosophy

1996:Foundation of the Department of Theology

1997:Affiliation of the Department of Theology to the Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, USA for the M.A degree in Theology.

2001:Affiliation of the Department of Theology to the University of Jos for the B.Th. degree.

2002:Foundation of the Michael Dempsey Centre for Religious and Social Research offering research facilities, organizing seminars and conferences for visiting scholars, an annual Aquinas' Day symposium, and publishing selected essays from the symposium, e.g. Preaching in Contemporary Nigeria (2004), Tradition and Compromises: Essays on the Challenge of Pentecostalism (2005).

2003:Foundation of the Center for Information and Communication Technology (CICOT). As a unit of the Dominican Institute, CICOT conducts training courses in hardware maintenance, data management for parishes, internet connectivity, website construction and hosting. One of CICOT's recent research achievements is the local manufacture of the 2.4GHz Internet antenna by a team of CICOT information technology experts.

2004:Affiliation to the University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum), Rome, for the pontifical B.Th.

2005:The Dominican Institute becomes a partner in the West African Bioethics Training Program headed by Professor Clement Adebamowo of the University College Hospital, Ibadan, in association with the Fogarty International Center, the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, and the National Human Geonome Institute, at National Institutes of Health, Bethesda.
